In 2023 my wife and I had the opportunity to celebrate our 50th anniversary by experiencing the Mediterranean on a Viking cruise. We began in Barcelona, Spain, and then sailed to Marseille. The next stop was Monte Carlo and the village of Cagnes (Renoir’s home). From there it was on to Tuscany in Italy, where we visited San Gimignano and dined at a local farm. Next was ancient Rome, and then Naples and Pompeii. We landed on Paleokastritsa (the “Capri of Greece”) on the island of Corfu. Following Corfu was a country that I knew very little about (other than the war back in the 90s) but that everyone who had been there raved about, Croatia. We explored the islands around Dubrovnik, and visited the Krka Waterfalls and town of Skradin (our port was Split, Croatia). Finally we ended the journey in Venice, and explored some of the nearby islands. This gallery contains my favorite images from the trip, and each has its own story.
